James Harden purposefully steals unlucky number

James Harden will feel right at home in Brooklyn, as he will sport the number 13, his usual number, for the Nets. But doesn’t Landry Shamet wear the number 13? Not anymore, according to Nets Daily and Shams Charania of The Athletic:

So @landryshamet will wear #20.

James Harden has teamed up with his former teammate Kevin Durant in Brooklyn. The thought of Harden’s nearly unstoppable offense pairing up with Durant’s incredible scoring abilities again has been giving teams nightmares as the rumors of potential trade between the Rockets and Nets got louder the past few days. Once the Nets get Kyrie Irving back into the mix, Brooklyn’s offense is only bound to get even more terrifying.

Harden had a terrific career in Houston, as the Rockets’ organization is where he began to flourish and prove himself to be more than just a reliable sixth man. Number 13 averaged 25.9 points his first season as a Rocket, almost nine points higher than his career-high average when he was still with the Oklahoma City Thunder. After that, he continued to score north of 25 points every season, including three seasons where he scored at least 30 points. Apart from winning an MVP and three straight scoring titles, Harden also the Rockets to the playoffs in his every season in Houston.

The Nets just added another individual ready to win a championship, and if Harden wanted 13 as his jersey number for the season, it was a good idea that Shamet knew not to contest the idea of Harden stealing his number. The new number 13 is looking dangerous and ready to let the ball fly.
