John Bishop has thanked fans for their well-wishes after he and his wife tested positive for coronavirus, reassuring them that they are getting stronger each day.
The comedian, 54, updated fans on Twitter, writing: ‘Thank you for all the messages of support regarding my recent positive Covid test.
‘I have been overwhelmed and moved by the amount of messages privately and publicly. Every day we are getting a little stronger and I will be back at work in Jan. Keep safe and Happy New Year John x’.
It comes after John revealed he and his wife Melanie had tested positive for coronavirus on Christmas Day and were left feeling ‘flattened’ by the virus.
Sharing an image of the positive test result, he wrote: ‘This came through on Christmas Day.
‘This is the worst illness I have ever had, debilitating headaches, muscle joint and even skin pain, dizziness, nausea, no appetite, incredibly chronic fatigue .

‘My wife and I are fit non smokers and it’s flattened us. I don’t wish this on anyone.
‘I know statistics suggest a 99.9% survival rate but that doesn’t mean I would wish this experience on anyone. Keep Safe.’

His friends and fans took to social media to wish him and his family well, with Jamie Redknapp writing: ‘Hope all ok bish’ while Romesh Ranganathan added: ‘Get well soon Bish.’
Gordon Ramsay told him: ‘Stand strong my friend’, and Paddy McGuinness wrote: ‘Hope you and Mel are both getting better every day pal. Loads of love to the family.’

It comes after the whole of England except the Scilly Isles were put into tier three or four restrictions as cases of coronavirus continue to soar.
People have also been warned to stay in instead of meeting up with friends for New Year’s Eve or face a £200 fine in an effort to curb the spread of the virus.
