Kyrie Irving being referred to as ‘property’ by ESPN personality has Twitter exploding

Right after James Harden was dealt to the Brooklyn Nets, Kyrie Irving is still a central point of focus among the newly formed trio which also includes Kevin Durant. ESPN commentator Jackie MacMullan revealed tough words she spoke to Irving in a past encounter.

While appearing on “The Ryen Russillo Podcast,” MacMullan went on to rebut a statement that Kyrie Irving had made to her in the past about players not being property of NBA teams.

Kyrie Irving – “There shouldn’t be an NBA Draft. Players should be able to go wherever they want to. We’re not someone’s property.”

Jackie Mac: “Yeah you are dude. That’s the way this works. That’s why you get paid all those millions.”

“So I will tell you this, I was thinking of all the conversations I’ve had with Kyrie (Irving) through the year,” said MacMullan around the 15-minute mark of the podcast. “One of them I had, I don’t know, two years ago, we got into an argument about, you know, something. And he’s like, ‘Well there shouldn’t be an NBA draft. Players should be able to go wherever they want to go. We’re not, you know, someone’s property.’ And I’m like, yeah you are dude. That’s the way it works.”

While Kyrie Irving has often cause himself to be the villain in the media, it appears this time it’s the other way around. MacMullan’s comments have left some fans concerned and, in some cases, irate.

Jackie MacMullan is wild for this. What’s crazier is no one thought to edit it out or ask her to clarify. So that means multiple people heard this and was like “yeah I agree with her.”

From the looks of things, MacMullan is being called on to issue a public apology by the masses of Twitter. MacMullan has often times been a driving force behind some of the negative headlines regarding Kyrie Irving. She first reported the discombobulation that surrounded the six-time All-Star upon his arrival in Brooklyn.

There is no word yet on whether ESPN will look into MacMullan’s comments on Kyrie Irving, but one should expect some attempt by the company to investigate the matter and soften the public relations hit in this case. This wasn’t a brand-new remark; it was a set of comments from a previous point in time. Yet, it’s still a situation which seems likely to require some degree of intervention.
