Leeds United evening headlines as summer transfer priority is revealed and Luton Town warning

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines for Tuesday June 30.

White reportedly top transfer target for Leeds

On-loan central defender Ben White is reportedly a top priority for Leeds United this summer, according to a report in The Athletic.

The centre back has been on loan at Marcelo Bielsa’s side for the entirety of their impressive 2019/20 Championship campaign and they are believed to be interested in signing him on a permanent deal, the report outlines.

Signing White on a permanent deal in the next transfer window will be based on a number of factors out of Leeds’ control, however. Brighton and Hove Albion could look to utilise him within their squad next season given how well he has performed under Bielsa.

Alternatively, they could look to sell him for a sizable fee with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United linked with a move for the 22-year-old.

Nevertheless, Leeds are believed to be highly interested in signing him this summer with it becoming a top priority.

Luton boss sends promotion warning to Leeds ahead of Championship clash

Luton Town boss Nathan Jones has outlined that he is very much focused on spoiling the promotion party when they visit Elland Road this evening.

Relegation-threatened Luton will face Bielsa’s side after a valuable win over Swansea City on the weekend in the hope of climbing out of the relegation zone with a win.

After returning to Kenilworth Road as manager for a second time, Jones insists that it will not be a ‘free hit’ for Kalvin Phillips and co.

“Every game is important, it’s a mini tournament, a mini league, we have to take the points where we can get them,” Jones said .

“It’s 100 per cent not a free hit and we’re not looking at it in that way in any way, shape or form.

“We want to build momentum, we want to make sure we’re structurally good, so it’s not about going there and having a free hit, absolutely not, and I don’t want the players thinking that.”

Hopeful Luton facing injury crisis ahead of Elland Road showdown

The Hatters face a number of key selection issues ahead of tonight’s clash against promotion-chasing Leeds.

A win for Jones’ side would move them out of the relegation zone but challenges don’t come much tougher in the Championship than a trip to Elland Road to face Bielsa’s men.

As many as six senior players will be unavailable for Jones tonight as his team look to upset the odds with the likes of Marek Stech, Frankie Musonda, Donervon Daniels, Lloyd Jones and Jake Jervis unavailable as they are all being released when their current contracts expire today .

Former Leeds man Eunan O’Kane will also miss a chance to play at Elland Road again after breaking his leg and defender Brendan Galloway is not expected to be part of the squad.
