Here are the Leeds United evening headlines on Wednesday, December 30.
Whites double enquiry
Leeds have made enquiries to sign Fiorentina duo Christian Kouame and Erick Pulgar in the January transfer window, according to La Nazione (via The Boot Room ).
The report states that Marcelo Bielsa has approved enquiries for Kouame and Pulgar – with the latter being linked with a move to Elland Road over the summer.
The Chile international plays as a defensive midfielder for the Serie A side and has been capped 24 times for his national team.
Meanwhile, Kouame has scored just two goals in 22 games for Fiorentina, but 13 of those games has seen the Ivory Coast man come off the bench.
The Whites have been linked with a striker to provide some competition or back-up to Patrick Bamford – who has been in fine form this season.

Bielsa’s training has Whites on 16-game streak over rivals
Just 52 hours after the final whistle blew against Burnley at Elland Road, Leeds kicked off yet another game, this time against West Bromwich Albion.
The Whites were sensational against the Baggies – scoring four first-half goals – and another after the break to win 5-0.
According to Opta, Leeds ran 119.14 kilometres at the Hawthorns, the highest Premier League stadium above sea level, just over two days after a 1-0 win against Burnley in Yorkshire.
Leeds’ fitness is what sets them apart from other teams in the top-flight, which is about the biggest testament you can pay to Bielsa’s training methods.
The Argentine boss is so focused on his team running the most against their opponents, that other things have to be sacrificed.

Ferdinand on Carney Twitter controversy
Rio Ferdinand has called on Leeds to delete their tweet that highlighted Karen Carney’s opinion that last season’s Covid-19 break helped the Whites’ promotion to the Premier League.
Speaking after Bielsa’s side thrashed West Brom on Tuesday evening, former England international Carney praised the team’s performance before posing the question of whether they would be affected by burnout as the season went on.

Leeds’ official Twitter account shared the video of her speaking and captioned it “Promoted because of Covid. Won the league by 10 points. Hi @primevideosport.”
This caused plenty of controversy online and former Leeds defender Ferdinand has now called on his old team to delete the tweet.
Ferdinand replied: “Agree… delete tweet!” to a comment made by @_JMallen saying it was “poor” from the club to post it in the first place.
Leeds have since issued a statement condemning any abuse that Carney has been subject to in the aftermath.
