Slattery’s reveals opening date and the Chocolate Challenge is back

Slattery’s is reopening next week and its famous Chocolate Challenge will be back.

The Whitefield patissier and chocolatier reopened its shop earlier this month, but its Masons Dining Room remained closed.

However, with the further easing of lockdown from this weekend, the venue will be reopening from Thursday, July 9.

Numerous safety measures are being put in place, including capacity being reduced down to 57% so that social distancing can be maintained.

And while there will be some slight changes to the menu, customers will be pleased to hear that all the old favourites will be back, including The Slattery Chocolate Challenge.

It was last year when we tried – and failed – at the challenge ourselves.

Menus will be disposable and disposed after every order and staff will spend 15 minutes in between each booking cleaning down the tables and chairs before the next guests arrive.

Bookings will be online only and slots, for a maximum of six people, will be available online from this Friday.

Jo Naven, marketing manager at Slattery’s, said: “There is a separate entrance and exit in the shop, hand sanitiser on arrival at the building and also at the entrance of the dining room.

“Our staff will be wearing face shields and they are having comprehensive training over the coming days ready for reopening.

“The reduced capacity in the dining room does also help us to reduce the kitchen staff to enable us to adhere to distancing measures and we are utilising the part time furlough scheme starting tomorrow.

“There are lots of other measures in place to meet all the guidelines. I t is constantly changing and we will be adapting to the new guidelines as and when realised.”

Slattery’s will not be opening on Mondays and the opening hours will be 9am to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday.

Gift vouchers are valid for two years from purchase, but it is extending them a further three months to give people more time to use them.
